Description

NexGard is a beef-flavored chewable tablet for dogs that protects against fleas and ticks. It contains afoxolaner, an insecticide and acaricide that kills fleas before they can lay eggs and kills ticks to prevent diseases such as Lyme disease. It is given once a month, and it starts working within 8 hours for fleas and 12 hours for ticks. Form: Chewable tablet Active ingredient: Afoxolaner Use: For dogs 8 weeks and older, weighing 4 lbs (1.8 kg) or more Protection against: Fleas (Ctenocephalides felis) and various types of ticks (including the black-legged tick, American dog tick, and Lone Star tick) Dosage: One tablet monthly, based on the dog's weight Prescription: Required Side effects: May include vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, or seizures in rare cases
